2025 ASPA SPRING CONTESTS
Welcome to the Arkansas Scholastic Press Association's 2025 Contests! This year, we are excited to offer a range of competitive categories including Broadcast, Film and Video, Newspapers, Literary Magazines and Yearbooks. These contests provide a unique platform for students to showcase their creativity, skill and passion for various forms of media and journalism.
Eligibility: To participate, entrants must be registered and active members of the ASPA for the 2024-25 academic year. This requirement ensures a shared standard of excellence and commitment among all participants.
Categories:
Broadcast: Dive into the dynamic world of broadcasting, showcasing your talents in news reporting, production and on-air presentation.
Film and Video: Unleash your cinematic creativity. Whether it's a short film, documentary, or an innovative video project, this is your stage.
Newspapers: For the aspiring journalists, this category celebrates the art of newspaper writing, layout design and editorial excellence.
Literary Magazine: A canvas for the literary artists. Submit your best poetry, short stories, essays and artwork.
Yearbook: Capture the essence of the academic year with your skills in yearbook design, photography and storytelling.
CONTEST FEES:
Enclose the $4 early entry fee or $12 late entry fee for each entry. Make checks payable to “Arkansas Scholastic Press Association” or pay with a credit card online in the “ASPA Store” on the ASPA website. Entries without the proper fee will be disqualified.
Return Postage: This charge is only for those not attending the 2025 State Convention in Bryant on April 4-5. If a designated person cannot pick up any mail-ins, awards, etc., ASPA reserves the right to withhold all items until return postage fees are paid.
ASPA OF-THE-YEAR AWARDS:
The early entry fee for each of these categories is $6.00; late entry is $15.00, except Adviser of the Year and Administrator of the Year. Entry into these two categories are free.
Important Dates:
Early Contest Deadline: February 22, 2025 by 11:59 p.m. Central Time EXCEPT Yearbook and Literary magazine General Excellence which is November 15, 2025 by 11:59 p.m. Central Time.
Late Contest Deadline: Final chance for submissions is March 15, 2025 by 11:59 p.m. Central Time EXCEPT Yearbook and Literary magazine General Excellence which is December 7, 2025 by 11:59 p.m. Central Time.
ASPA State Convention: The highlight of our year! Contest winners will be proudly announced at the ASPA State Convention, scheduled for April 4-5, 2025, in Bryant, Arkansas. It's an opportunity not only to celebrate your achievements but also to engage with peers, attend workshops, and gain invaluable insights from industry professionals.
